On March 26th, 2021, at 2:47 pm, our mother peacefully left this life to join her loved ones who had gone before her.  God called her for a special Easter celebration just like the good old days.  Upon her arrival she was greeted by those who travelled there before her:  her late husband Arthur Angus (2018); her parents John (1958) and Katie (nee Solar) (1979) Duda; siblings Pearl (1988) and husband Frank Davy (1977); Bill (2016) and wife Barbara (1995) Duda; Marjorie (1982) and husband Henry McClure (1995), Joe (2014) and wife Irene (2013) Duda; and many other relatives and friends.

 

Mom said the hardest part of growing old was when you were the last surviving child and all of your siblings had gone before you.  She reunites with them now to find her comfort and peace

 

Not yet called, Mom leaves behind her daughters Wendy Bauer and Valerie Rita Torgasows; grandsons Jesse and Jason Sampson; and great granddaughter Aubree Sampson whom she fabulously adored.  Also nieces Cheryl Thiessen, Karen Sansregret, Colleen MacLeod; nephew Doug Williams, and their families.

 

Mom was born at 90 Grove Street, in Winnipeg, on July 8, 1927, and shortly thereafter her parents returned to the Duda family homestead in Sapton, MB.  She attended Sapton School and went on to Hazelridge High School, finishing Grade XI in 1944.  On a teacher’s permit, she taught grades 1 to 4 at Melrose School for the 1944-45 school year, a fond experience she always remembered.  Mom fell in love with the mountains during that summer in the late 1940s she spent working at Jasper Park Lodge.  In 1952 she married Victor Torgasows and they owned the hotel in Binscarth 1962-1965, and the Palma Hotel in Transcona 1965-1969.  They later went their separate ways and in 1985 she married Arthur Angus and they shared 33 wonderful years together. They enjoyed their retirement years playing crib, bowling, dancing, being Fort Garry Legion members, and driving to British Columbia every summer.
