"BERNIE"

BERNARD

JOSEPH GEORGE

HOULE

With family by his side, Bernie passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the age of 73 years.

Bernie will be lovingly remembered by his three children; Krista, Kevin (Laurelle), and Kerry and their Mother Diane; brothers Dollard, Jean-Claude and Leo and sisters Irene and Paulette; as well as many nieces and nephews. Grandpa will especially be missed by his 5 granddaughters; Natalie, Ashley, Renee, Emma Grace and Lilly. Bernie will also be missed by his long-time partner Anita; her children Coreen, Karen (Gigi), Ronnie, Dean, Geordie; and grandchildren Raquelle, Randi, Miranda, Chris, Jordan, Hailey, Sierra, Elijah, Emily.; as well as several great grandchildren.

Bernie was well known for keeping an easy going life.  He enjoyed spending time at the lake in the summer, visiting family “out east”, traveling to Texas during his retirement and breakfast every weekend with his children and grandchildren.  He held two passions close to his heart, family and hockey.  Playing hockey as a young boy with his brothers, to coaching his sons hockey team, later to attend games and tournaments of his granddaughters hockey team and celebrating the return of the Winnipeg Jets.

After serving 21 years, Bernie was honourably discharged from the Canadian Armed Forces as a Sargent.  He then joined the Public Service Commission where he became very close friends with Florence Friesen, Vern MacLean, John Charest, Iris Ray, and Shirley Kocsis.

Bernie was predeceased by his parents Adelard and Retha (Cooke).

The family would like to thank the Grace Hospital for their loving care and compassion.

Friends and Relatives are encouraged to share in a photo-tribute, eulogy, stories and condolences for the family in comments section of this page.

A celebration of Bernie's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 22nd, 2019 at the First Unitarian Church, 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road.

If family and friends would like to dress in Jets attire in honor of Bernie you’re more than welcome.
