NEIL BRUCE

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Neil after a courageous battle with cancer. Mourning his loss is his wife Val, sons Curt and Grant, stepdaughters Shannon (Jason) and Janet (Faron); sisters Josie (George), Joyce (Jack), Verna (Gill), brother Edgar (Doreen); ex wife Bobbi, and sister in law Millie.

He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren who he loved dearly. He has many nieces and nephews whom he also kept in touch with. Predeceased by his parents Mary and Allan; sisters Shirley and Arlene and brothers Harvey and Martin also brothers-in-law Ernie and Kenny.

Throughout his life Neil worked at Marine Transport Booth Fisheries, Department of Mines and Natural Resources, ABEX Steel Foundry - at this time Neil took his Mill Wright training at Keewaitin Community College. After graduation he moved to Snow Lake, there he was employed by Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting. Several years later he moved to Bisset and later worked at Gerdau America. The last place of employment Neil worked at was AB Mechanical.

Neil was the only one of 9 children to be born at Gimli hospital. He was raised and attended school in Loon Straits. Neil loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He had his pilot license and his own plane which he loved to fly. He built his cabin at Loon Straits and spent many happy years there. Due to health problems Neil had to retire at the age of 60.

We would like to thank the staff at St Boniface hospital, especially at the Palliative Care unit where the nursing staff treated him so well. He always has a smile for them no matter how sick he was.

In honoring Neil's wishes there will be no formal funeral service. There will be a family gathering at a later date in the Spring of 2018.

Neil is now flying off to his new place where he will be well and healthy again
