NICHOLE JOSINE BYE
On March 8, 2021, Nichole Bye went to be with her Lord at the age of 71 years.
Niki was born in Ancaster, Ontario, the youngest of three children. She received her schooling both in Ancaster and Orillia. Niki became a Salvation Army soldier as a young girl and faithfully served God throughout her life. In 1972, she left Orillia to train as a nurse in Kirkland, Ontario. Her plan was to nurse in the far north. God had a different plan for her. Instead of nursing in the north, she began a career in salvation army personal care homes across Canada.
Niki nursed as an RN at Orillia Sunset Lodge. She was then transferred to Edmonton Sunset Lodge, Golden West Centennial Lodge in Winnipeg, and Sunset Lodge in Charlottetown, PEI. In the latter two homes she was assistant administrator, but her first love was nursing. Niki retired from Prince Edward Island, and took up residence in Winnipeg Beach. Soon, she came out of retirement to accept a short-term position as the administrator at the Salvation Army Personal Care Home in Montreal. Returning to Manitoba she became an RN once again, this time at Betel Home in Gimli. Niki nursed there for a short time before illness took over her life. We thank God for her life of service.
Throughout her career, Niki was an efficient, gentle caring person who put others before herself. Her gentle ways, her kindness and her subdued sense of humour made her many friends.
Niki loved to travel and enjoyed her trips to Florida, Hawaii and other exotic places.
God is good; his timing is perfect. Her pain-filled days and nights are passed, and she will one day by the grace of God see Jesus along with all other Christians. Won’t that be a day of rejoicing! Niki’s desire was that all of her friends would come to know Christ as their Lord and Saviour and for this she prayed continually.
Nichole was predeceased by her parents, Gerry and Grace Bye; and by her brothers, Barry and Wayne. She is survived by her sister-in-law Jan; her niece Michelle; her nephews Craig, Blair and David, as well as cousins. She will be missed terribly by Diane May, her friend of many years, and by her good friends in Manitoba and across the country.
In Niki’s memory, donations will be gratefully received by Living Hope Community Church, located at 51 Morrow Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2M 1A5.
