Catharine will also be missed by her Brother George (Dawn) Smith of Portage La Prairie; Sister Joan (Gordon) Kitchen of Winnipeg as well as numerous nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.

Catharine was predeceased by her son Bryce, as well as her parents, Harold and Jean Smith.

Catharine was born on October 28, 1946 in St. Thomas, Ontario. Catharine enjoyed many things through her life including being a professional book keeper, a business owner and the glue that held our family together. Catharine took great pride and love in her family and loved everyone unconditionally. Everyone that came into her life she treated like family, and would give the shirt off her back if needed. She enjoyed the many family dinners and outings whether it be camping, road trips or day trips to some of her favorite spots. She took up a hobby of making ceramics. This hobby turned into a business venture that she enjoyed beyond belief. Catharine was also an avid reader from an early age and was never without a book no matter where she was. She took great joy in finding new authors both obscure and mainstream. Her love of books was evident when she fulfilled a dream and became the owner of a bookstore in Winnipeg. It was the one place she felt her best and took great pride in running. It broke her heart to have to retire from there when she became ill.

As per her wishes no funeral or celebration of life will take place.
