AMANDA JUNE CRESPEIGNE

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Amanda, on July 20, 2020 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital with her daughters by her side.

Amanda was so strong and won every battle in life until her battle with cancer. In the fall of 2017, she was diagnosed with breast cancer which she fought with such positivity and grace. In the spring of 2020, the cancer had spread and was more aggressive. Even though she fought her hardest, she could not defeat.

Amanda is predeceased by her mother, Gwendolyn Hall; paternal grandparents, George and Aurore Crespeigne; maternal grandparents, Percy and Ethel Hall, whom Amanda spent her teenage years living with, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

Amanda is survived by her daughters, Samantha and Jenna Young; step-daughter Caitlyn Konaby (Kyiah); her partner Raymond Iverson; father, Andy Crespeigne (Gloria); sisters Debra and Brenda (Mark) Crespeigne; father of her beautiful girls Arliss Young, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and MANY amazing friends.

Amanda was born in Kenora, Ontario and moved to Camp Robinson, Ontario from ages two to eight where she lived in the great outdoors with her sisters and friends swimming, going on nature walks, and sliding. She moved to Mckenzie B.C. from ages eight to ten then moving back to her home town of Kenora for the rest of her days.

Amanda worked numerous jobs but one of her favourite places was the pool hall for where she received her name everyone knew her by, “Crespeigne”! She took no crap from the people that came in and she was always a listener to anyone who needed to talk or get advice. Amanda loved to party with her friends which in turn made her more friends and anyone who knew her knew that she was “the party”!

Around the age of 40, Amanda went back to school at Confederation College and completed the Education Assistant program where she found her passion working with children. Amanda was the most kind, caring, compassionate person.

Some of Amanda’s favourite things were animals, bingo, trips to the casino, fishing and camping with Ray, coffee dates (or wine), car rides and long chats with her girls.

We would like to thank the nurses on palliative care, Laura, Margaret and Robyn at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, Leanne, Mom’s Nurse Practitioner, Dena Slusarcyk and Lisa Wilcott for following through with Mom’s wishes and Gaelyn Lax for all her support and to all of our family and Mom’s close friends that reached out to us during this difficult time, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and to the community for all your donations to the GofundmePage for us, we will never forget your generosity.

Due to Covid-19 the celebration of life for Amanda will be postponed till July 17, 2021 with more info to follow.
