DENIS SMITH

October 12, 1945 - November 9, 2016

With his beloved wife Linda at his side, Denis left his earthly home to join our heavenly father and son.

Denis will be forever missed by his daughter Whitney Smith (Owen Preston); step-children Doug, Kim and Sean; five beautiful granddaughters and three handsome grandsons; brother Ted; sister Carol and special friend Gilbert Bourrier (Linda) of sixty-one years.

Denis loved sports and was an avid fan of both the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays. He loved to play Slow pitch Baseball and after joining the Canadian Legion, branch #9, turned his sights to shuffle board and cribbage.

Denis was very kind and generous with his time. He would lend a hand where it was needed, you didn’t need to ask. He volunteered with the Legion serving in many officer roles and doing his part above and beyond what was expected.

A service of remembrance will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Elmwood Legion, Branch # 9, 920 Nairn Avenue.

The family would like to express their heart-felt appreciation to the staff of T3 at the Deer Lodge Centre for their loving care for Denis during his time there.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society (Research Division) or Deer Lodge Centre (Tower 3 Dementia Care Unit).
