BLAKE CHARLES DONALD

On Tuesday, October 27, 2020, Blake Charles Donald, husband, father, son and brother, passed away suddenly at the age of 71.

Blake will forever be missed by his loving wife Cheryl, and his 3 children, Brett (Alison), Chris (Kristin), and Reagan. Blake will also be fondly remembered by Barb, and his sisters Brenda (Gary) and Lori (Frank). His grandchildren Jadyn, Jacob, Brianna and Chyanne will miss their Grandpa Blake dearly, as will his many close friends and extended family.

Blake grew up within a tight knit family and community in Fort Rouge.  Summers were spent making many great memories at the family cabin in Grand Marais. Being the eldest sibling, he was looked upon as the greatest big brother ever.  Blake was involved in many sports including hockey, baseball and was a member of the Fort Garry Curling Club. Graduating from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts, Blake started his career in journalism but later in life found his niche as a Certified Financial Planner.  Blake was also a proud father and loved being involved in his children’s lives. He was a hockey coach, a great mentor, and always available to lend an ear. Or an ear and money! Blake was the most generous dad. Blake and his family spent many summers at the family cabin. His sisters had children of their own, and as the extended family grew, that big family cabin became exceedingly small!  But they all managed to squeeze in that cabin and those wonderful memories will live on forever.

Over the years, Blake and his wife Cheryl have shared their passion for golf, travel and work. Blake and Cheryl were often working away all day only to be found back at the office working into the wee hours of the night.  Their shared philanthropic work ethic led to many cherished friendships.  As members of the Rossmere Golf and Country Club, everyone knew where to find Blake and Cheryl in the summer. The winter was a different story, often leaving their loved ones to wonder which country they were in!  Their adventures together were countless.  Their love for each other and travel eventually extended to time spent with their grandchildren. Whether it was an exciting trip to Mexico or a road trip across Canada, Grandpa Blake and Cheryl were up for it!

Our dearest Blake, wherever you are and wherever you go, we know you are with Reagan. Walking hand in hand, feeling the sand between your toes, hearing the waves crash the rocky beach and waiting patiently for us all to join you in feeling the warm summer sun on our faces.
