DONALD CHARLES ELLISON

April 3, 1952 - May 31, 2016

Donald Charles Ellison, aged 64, Winnipeg Manitoba passed away after a four-month struggle from a double lung transplant which was preceded by a 7-year diagnosis of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Don was born in Winnipeg Manitoba April 3rd 1952 (Aries) predeceased by both of his parents Florence and Charles Ellison and survived by wife Debbie, daughter Sarah and nephew Mike. Nothing made Don so proud as the contributions he made with Debbie in helping to raise their daughter Sarah, the light of his life. Don’s passion for bicycles took his career through multiple bicycle shops around his hometown. Don was very charismatic, well loved by anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Don came alive when surrounded by friends and family, often the life of the party no matter the occasion.

Don was a hoarder of things, from Starbucks straws, and busted up globes to soy sauce packets and hotel toiletries. He was incapable of traversing a back alley without coming home with something that “was perfectly good, just needs a few coats of paint!” Don was adamant on always having a plan, whether or not it was seen through to completion did not matter, as long as he had a plan and was able to explain everything! “Let me explain, just listen!” It was hard, but teasing a smile out of the guy would always make our day. He was very particular with planning a trip; he had to pack everything just right – and the best route was always by taking the “Spokes of the Wheel”.

On Sunday June 26th, friends and family will gather to have a celebration of Don’s life in Assiniboine Park; meeting at the shelter across from the duck pond around 1:00 p.m.. Bring yourself, your best memories, your chosen refreshments and food. We look forward to seeing you there.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

“Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most… human.”
