MITCHELL GORDON DUNCAN

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Mitchell Gordon Duncan, age 56, on March 5, 2019, at his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Mitch is survived by his son Joseph (Angele) Turchyn; grandchildren Brehanna, Joseph (JJ) and Chase; mother Marjorie; sisters Lynn (Jim) McLean and Pam Horan (Shaun); brothers Ron (Donna) and John (Desirae) Duncan; nieces Lyndsey, Carly, and Hanna; nephews Brendon, Nick, Colin, Chris, and Adam, who will all carry on his memory. Mitch was predeceased by his father Gordon Duncan.

Mitch lived his life to the fullest - worked hard and played hard. He was a driven entrepreneur and ran an accounting practice where he took pride in helping people to set up and run businesses, and was very passionate about making things right in the world.

Mitch pursued his passions - hockey, baseball, skiing, fishing, reading, and travel. He thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his family and friends on his adventurous journey. Mitch had a strong connection to Flin Flon, Manitoba where he took pride in sharing his Walleye holes at his “secret lake” and where he began his passion for the game of hockey. Mitch achieved great success in hockey, playing in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for the Winnipeg South Blues when they won the Manitoba Championship in the early 80’s and spent two years playing in the British Ice Hockey league where he was scoring leader of the league. Mitch received the Province of Manitoba Order of Sports Excellence in 1982 when they beat the Flin Flon Bombers to win the MJHL championship.

Son, Father, Grandfather (Pops), Brother, Uncle and Friend - although taken from us too young, we remember all the great times together!

Cheers to finding the best fishing holes in heaven!

Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in a eulogy, stories, and condolences for the family by commenting in the section on the right-hand side.

A Celebration of Mitch's life will be held from 6:00 to 10:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Niakwa Golf and Country Club where you can drop in anytime.

In lieu of flowers his family asks for a charitable donation to be made in Mitch's name to the Big Brother and Big Sisters of Canada Program.
