Jackie Harrison

October 10, 1964 - July 10, 2018

It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jacqueline (Jackie) Kelly Harrison on July 10, 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital.

Jackie was intensely loved by her family and friends and will be truly missed – but forever in our hearts.

Jackie was predeceased by her father, Norman Foster Harrison (1996) and brother, Raymond Earl Harrison (2014). She leaves to mourn her passing - mother Minnie; sisters Gloria (Geza), Linda (Gerry); brother Rick; nieces Deanna (Jonas), Samantha (Cam), Tahea (Devin), Kristen; nephews Geza Jr. (Jessica), Ryan (Ashley); great-nieces & nephews Andrena, Cadence, Chloe, Evie, Andrea, Julianna, Logan, Kayla, Ryder, Easton; Uncle Henry; foster family Kathy, Jamie (Hamid), Nikki, Holly; many numerous cousins and friends; and special to her heart, Aunty Esther.

Jackie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on October 10, 1964 to Minnie and Norman Harrison. Jackie grew up in Weston and attended Robertson School where she loved to attend school dances – with her Dad and her little niece as chaperones. Despite her disability, Jackie faced life with determination and zest. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and friend.

Throughout her life, Jackie was amazingly strong and brave as she encountered new routines, new surroundings, and new adventures.  Jackie could be found walking up and down the back lane, talking to neighbours, and listening to music…which she liked very loud.

She spent many weekends being taken shopping and going for lunch – always happy to jump in the car and see how the day would unfold. Jackie also enjoyed family BBQs with her Mom making homemade burgers and her Dad BBQing using coal briquettes – what a lovely smell! She has inspired many with her gentle yet feisty personality – never afraid to tell you what she liked and didn’t like…again, sometimes very loudly.

Her most recent adventures have been with her foster family, Kathy and Jamie (as well as Nikki & Holly). Over the years, Jackie developed a love for Mickey Mouse, Chinese food, and cake! Shopping trips included a hunt for tops and calendars. She adored calendars and was always excited to get to the last day of the month and flip the page. Kathy and Jamie provided her with a beautiful home and loving family – for which we are extremely grateful.

Our family has always been welcomed with open arms – with Christmas and birthdays being the main events.

A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 in the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery.

Jackie’s life was truly fulfilled and happy!

Special thanks to Debbie, Donna, & Brenda for being with us during a very difficult time.

Rest in Peace our sweet beautiful Jackie – we love you!
