MARILYN JANICE HOOK

(née Arnst)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Hook, who lost her battle with cancer on Friday, January 18, 2019 in the Health Sciences Centre.

Born in 1950, Marilyn spent her entire life in Winnipeg.  Graduating from Elmwood High School in 1968 she resided in East Elmwood and worked for over 20 years for Revenue Canada, at the Winnipeg Taxation Centre. Marilyn was baptized and confirmed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Elmwood and for many years was an active leader in its woman’s organization.

In 1972 she married her husband Brad and they were together for 46 years, having two children; Jeffrey and Justin.

A kind and loving soul, Marilyn gave greatly of herself, and was always willing to  lend a helping hand to family and her many friends. She was the rock to which so many depended and the thread that held her family and friends together.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Brad and sons Jeffrey and Justin. She is also survived by her brother Gary Arnst (Langley, BC), nephew Darrell (Kelowna, BC) and niece Tara (Mahone Bay, NS).

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m, on February 23, 2019 in the Holy Cross Lutheran Church located at 708 McCalman Avenue.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Health Sciences Centre or CancerCare Manitoba.
