SHAUNA MARIE JACKSON

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Shauna. On November 12, 2020, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, after a courageous battle with lung cancer, Shauna peacefully passed away in her sleep at the age of 51.

Shauna is survived by her husband of 34 years, George. Her children Allen (Kristen), Krista, Andrew, grandchildren Aryanna, Jeremy, Curtis, Emma, her parents James and Sylvia and her brother Bill.

She was an amazing strong woman who never held back. She loved harder than anyone we know and wouldn’t hesitate to drop everything to help a family member or friend in need. She even earned herself the nickname “pit bull” due to her feisty nature.

Shauna loved being a mom. It didn’t matter the time of day, or if one of us did something stupid, we could always count on her to be there for us, even into our adult years. She was always the first one to give us shit if we deserved it, praise us when we did something great, and brag about us when ever she could.

On top of being a mom. Shauna was also a very proud grandma. She was most proud of her grandchildren and they were her biggest accomplishment in life. When she first became a grandma in May of 2006, up until the day Aryanna was born, she refused to be called grandma because she was “too young” to be a grandma. The moment she laid eyes upon Aryanna, her heart was so full, she decided being called grandma would be ok.

Shauna did everything she could for every single one of her grandchildren. This included spending many early mornings at the hockey rink, freezing her butt off cheering the kids on. Shauna was so very proud of how far her grandchildren came in the few years they had taken up hockey.

The amount of people Shauna had an impact on in life is endless. Mom had so much love to give towards everyone. From aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and of course her friends.

During the last four weeks, Shauna was surrounded by family as well as her best friends, Karen, Kelly, Kerri and Rina. You all had such an impact on mom’s final month and she truly loved each of you for everything you did for her. The family would also like to send a special thanks to Karen, Kerri, Kelly and Rina. On top of being there for mom as friends, you helped us keep mom home, safe and comfortable, with her family like she wanted for as long as we could. We appreciate this more then we can say.

We are all going to miss you so very much, but are glad you are no longer suffering or in pain. Have fun up there, say hi to everyone. We will all keep making you proud down here and we will see you again, rest easy momma.

Due to Covid, a celebration of life will be held at a later date when we’re able to do so.
