LAURA MARIE KOTOWICZ-KIMBALL
With very heavy hearts we announce that after an intense battle with cancer, Laura has succumbed to the illness and passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019. Laura had just celebrated her 40th birthday and for those who knew her know that she lived every day to the fullest.
Laura loved her husband Mike. The two spent 20 years laughing, loving, and building their beautiful life together. The addition of the furry Shih Tzu duo Archie & Abby brought an abundance of joyous and playful energy to their home. Laura had a green thumb, a gift for creating beautiful spaces, and was a baker extraordinaire. Her ability to act on her visions and bring them to life brought a deep sense of purpose and appreciation into her daily life. Laura was an amazing daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, wife, and doggie mama; inspiring us all to be kind, thoughtful, joyful and the best version of ourselves. Her wisdom and intellect were beyond her years, and we will all miss having Laura to turn to for advice, guidance, and thoughtful discussion. She was the best role model her brother and two sisters could ever have asked for. Laura was deeply, deeply loved by her family.
Laura poured her heart and soul into all she did. She possessed a work ethic like no other and excelled at every job she ever had; always thinking about how things could be better for those she served. She had a true spirit for wellness and Human Resource and was so happy to have found her calling and her work family at Ceridian. Laura was a dedicated supporter of Winnipeg’s local business and artisan community. In recent years Laura also shared her own entrepreneurial skills with the launch of Kimball Home, creating natural, eco-friendly cleaning products. Being a lifelong learner, she was an inspiration to many who knew her. Personal growth was a priority in Laura’s life, and she was constantly challenging herself and pushing beyond her comfort zone. This led Laura into the realm of mindfulness, meditation, yoga, wellbeing through food consumption / essential oils, as well as sustainability.
Laura loved her city. She and Mike shared the love of good food and would spend romantic date nights seeking out and experiencing local eateries. Laura was always in the know about the ‘hidden gems’ of Winnipeg. This appreciation of her hometown didn’t stop with food. Laura also sought out, supported, and befriended many local artisans. These local connections only deepened her love and appreciation for Winnipeg.
Laura had a humble and extremely authentic way of connecting with people, which created a strong and supportive community. She demonstrated immense kindness, and generosity through her desire to help people in need through initiatives such as “ Warm Up Winnipeg”, collecting socks and mittens for Siloam Mission, as well as creating crystal energy bracelets that she sold to raise funds for Cancer Care Manitoba. Laura had a heart of gold and was always looking for an opportunity to lend a hand. She would tirelessly collect Canadian Tire money, as well as hotel shampoo bottles to donate to Siloam Mission. Laura touched the lives of many people and will leave many memorable thoughts and feelings in their hearts.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the staff at Cancer Care Manitoba and to the nurses and doctors on the fifth floor of the Women’s Hospital, who have all been so helpful, kind and supportive throughout Laura’s care.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a date for Laura’s Celebration of Life will be announced in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Laura’s name to Cancer Care Manitoba, where all the funds will stay in Manitoba to help battle the disease.
