YONG XIAN LIU

Yong Xian Liu passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2017, at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Canada at the age of 83 years.

 

Yong Xian was predeceased by her husband Yuan Sun Yu in 2013. She is survived by her daughters Hong Yu (Neil Popplewell) of Victoria, BC and Christine Wen Yu (George Xiao Nan Ding) of Tennessee, USA; grandchildren Lisa Popplewell, Frances Ding, and Tony Ding.

 

Yong Xian was born in the city of Chengdu, China in 1934. She was an accomplished scholar and well respected physics professor at Sichuan University. She enjoyed a happy marriage of nearly 50 years with Yuan Sun Yu who was also a physics professor at Sichuan University.  She and her husband came to Canada to be closer to their two daughters in 1997. She had an enduring inquisitive mind and retained active learning throughout her life.  She made many friends in her newly adopted country and enjoyed many happy moments in their company.

 

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 in the Winnipeg Chinese Lutheran Church, 200 Dalhousie Drive.

 

Charitable donations in memory of Yong Xian Liu to the Winnipeg Chinese Lutheran Church will be most appreciated.
