FINLEY MOAR

Finley Angus Moar lost his long courageous battle with cancer and passed away on October 8th, 2018 in Winnipeg at the age of 59.

Finley is survived by his wife Bonnie; children Adam (Karen), Taylor Lynne and Eric; brothers Mervin (Linda), Gary, Dale, Michael, Clayton and Albert; sisters Christine and Aileen; special nieces Destiny and Jody; as well as cousin Charlie Ans (Judy).  He was predeceased by his parents Leo and Marie; brother Sheldon; sister Sandra; and sister-in-law Brenda.

Finley was born on January 5, 1959 in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. He grew up in Crane River and graduated from Dauphin Regional High School when he was 17. After graduation, he worked in various jobs, on the railroad, in the mine, for farmers and began his carpentry career early in his life. He met his wife Bonnie, the love of his life, in Brandon and they moved to Winnipeg where he went into carpentry full-time. He worked with his mentor/partner Don Shipley for a number of years until 2006 when Don passed away. Finley then started his own company, Cross Country Builders. He spent most of his time on jobs in remote communities in northern Manitoba until his illness forced him to retire.

Finley was an avid sports fan; there weren't too many games that he wouldn't watch on TV and  he loved going to baseball tournaments. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. And for him there was nothing like a cold beer and country music. Family was everything to Finley. He and Bonnie were together for 38 years and the result was Adam, Taylor and Eric. Finley liked to tell jokes and anyone who knew him enjoyed his humour.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on November 3rd, 2018 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, on 603 Wellington Crescent in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
