The Winnipeg Free Press charges for classified advertising based on a measurement called an "agate line".
 
We don't really have an accurate method of predicting cost on a per word bases but we do know that 2 inches of coumn space currently costs about $123.00.
 
Coincidentally, an obituary photo in the Free Press obituaries section is 2 inches in length. So an obituary with a photo and four inches of text below the photo would total total six inches cost approximately $369 plus GST.
 
We receive a discount from the Winnipeg Free Press and we pass that discount on to our clients.  It equates to about 15% less than what the family would pay when submitting the obituary on their own.
