Someone Else Gets It.

It is important to understand that everyone's grief journey is their own, unique experience. A group of people may be grieving the loss of the same person, but when consoling each other it is important to remember that each person is experiencing their pain and processing their loss in a different way. Often sympathies get misconstrued, taken out of context and can offend when not fully thought through. Every now and then, we meet someone, hear a song, or read an article; and all we can think is, "finally, someone else gets it."
Regardless of where you are in your grief journey, whether you lost someone yesterday and can't imagine another day, or it's two years down the road and you're just getting tired; I hope that this man's analogy of grief brings you some comfort in knowing that you are not alone in this long, winding journey. Someone else gets it, and we will all survive.
