Evelyn Tarasiuk

December 4, 1939 - May 13, 2018

Evelyn Elizabeth was born to Eddie and Flo Milligan on December 4, 1939 in Pipestone, Manitoba, the second youngest of eight children. She completed her education at the high school in Pipestone and St. Michael’s Academy in Brandon.

Her first job took her to Melville, Saskatchewan working as a dental assistant. She moved to Winnipeg where she entered the hospitality business, managing the City Centre hotel on Ellice. Following Joyce’s graduation from the University of Manitoba, the sisters made their way to Toronto. Eve worked for many years at the famous Royal York Hotel before entering the retail business with Jason and Margarita. She and her family successfully owned and managed an upscale dress shop “Repeats” before retiring to Winnipeg in 2008.

Besides living and working in Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto, Evelyn was able to travel a great deal, most notably to Ireland, England, Scotland, Costa Rica, Hawaii, St. Martin, New York, Tampa, Miami, Phoenix and Las Vegas taking numerous cruises along the way. Many of her travels were with her three beloved sisters, known simply as “The Milligan Girls”.

And let’s not forget that when you hung around with Eve you got to go first class all the way. Back in the day, she was always able to get front row tickets to the big shows, including: The Beatles, Tony Bennet, Tom Jones and Cher. Hockey tickets to Maple Leaf Gardens on Saturday night were never a problem.

Evelyn will be forever remembered for her sense of style; her courage and her generosity. She was a lover of fine things and taught us all The Art of Gracious Living. Her large extended family enjoyed countless dinner parties and celebrations at her condo, always leaving us with more than with what we came. Evelyn’s attention to detail made her a fierce bridge player, crossword connoisseur and gourmet cook. Evelyn was very special to her granddaughters, Alicia and Victoria, and rarely missed being a part of the girl’s activities, successes and accomplishments.

Evelyn… thoughtful, classy and elegant to the end.
